While American men and women are dieing presumably to defend the principles of democracy, free speech, human rights and civil liberties, the White House has weaseled through the Military Commissions Act which all but officially sanctions torture at the President pleasure and among other things, gives the President the right to ignore the traditional right of habeas corpus, a principle that has been in existence since the Magna Carta in 1215.
